We can do it. I think we'll beat them.
Mancini's injured list numbers six – Joleon Lescott, who has a back injury, James Milner and David Silva (hamstring), Micah Richards (knee), Jack Rodwell (groin), and Maicon who is training but not ready following his foot injury. Kolo Touré is ineligible as he is not in the competition squad.
Our squad :
Kenneth Vermeer
Toby Alderweireld
Niklas Moisander
Christian Poulsen
Eyong Enoh
Christian Eriksen
Siem de Jong
Daley Blind
Tobias Sana
Lasse Schöne
Derk Boerrigter
Jasper Cillessen
Ricardo van Rhijn
Joël Veltman Joel
Mitchell Dijks
Stefano Denswil
Viktor Fischer
Ryan Babel

It's not impossible :ajaxsjaal: but don't you think the benchplayers of Manchester City will be more motivated, Philippe?

They will be. But a win is a must for them and for their coach, and they will also have to take risks ...

2-2 is a very good result, playing the Premier League champions away.
Thanks to all the guys, proud of you !
:tifoajax:
Everyone played well, with a special mention to De Jong of course, who scored like a real number 9 he isn't. Great tactical playing, congratulations to Frank.

Laugh of the evening with Mancini at the very end. Yes it was a penalty, but yes the game was over, the 3mn extratime were gone. Game over for you, Mancini, and for your 400 M€ fatcats.

Since Real Mad did not do the job, CL is over for us now. But I'm looking forward to the Ajax-Dortmund game. We'll "overwinter in Europa" but in the Europa League. :ajaxslacht:

A great night at city , though we had to defend like crazy , so 4 points taken from the millionaires...just shows beautiful football is above money. City No Class, Cheating when things go against them. Had a great day and met up with loads of my friends from Netherlands....Roll on Madrid CBS

AJAX just was lacking that extra class. Class like Anita and Vertonghen. And our flankplayers weren't that good. There were too many missed opportunities.
But all in all i am happy with the result and some players. And with Frank de Boer. :ajaxoud2:

The trouble is that Dortmund got 4 points out of 6 from their games against Real Mad. That's why we won't catch up with them. Let's focus on out next game home against Dortmund to make sure we reach the Europa League.

We tried hard but missed a real striker (Sigthorsson or Babel). Besides, game staistics show that Dortmund was lucky.
Now I'm expecting Man.City to win in Dortmund, just like Lyon qualified in Zagreb last season. If you see what I mean. :ajaxslacht:

No, Philippe. This is not 'lucky' but 'effective'.

Effective is the word. But they are playing for four years with the same team. Bigger budget.
Off-topic: Philippe...and Pett too. Can you post in this topic so i can admit you to the History of AJAX zone please.

Dordmund was effective, but also got there because Ajax played like vMarwijk with 2 defensive mitfielders! If you dont keep the offensive strong the already bigger team gets more space to play!

Dortmund is in all aspects stronger than Ajax. Their players were fast in action, well-skilled in small room. I watched a short video before the match Ajax - Dortmund about how Klopp trained their players to be fast in action in small room. He let the player standing in a room and passes the ball to the player from a machine. The player then controlls the ball and passes it to a specially designated net in the wall. Really a good training, I think.
As Anita, Vertonghen and Suarez stayed at Ajax, I think Ajax would get better result. Everyone knows that Ajax won the title last season (mainly) because Anita played back in the controlling midfielder position. Good building-up and defending qualities. Look at Enoh and Poulsen now. Sjonge jonge jonge... When Enoh got the ball during the match against Dortmund, he needed at least 1 second to consider what to do. Dear me! Here in football, one second can change the whole world.

Everything you say is correct, of course. However, the stats show we got more shots on target than Dortmund.

Sensible comments (Ajax.nl) ;) : De Boer was realistic afterwards: “We saw a good bit of efficiency. We did far too little with the possession we had, we didn’t have any power. If I analyze all four goals, then three of those could have been prevented. I blame us for that. You need to be better if you want to be on the Champions League stage.”
