He wants to have a certain say in what Ajax could demand for him, because he is afraid Ajax will ask above twenty million euros and is not willing to be obliged to a long term contract when he is not content about their business treatment. That is why he does not re-new yet.

When Ajax would be smart, they table with him one time and discuss how they treat his matter and what they would like of Eriksen in return. This to prevent emotional reactions in advantage of the buying club such as "I do not re-new my contract" before the end of the summer transferdeadline, because it harms the negotiation position of the club during the transferwindow when he does so. So there has to be clarity and honor before and during the transferwindow.
